“Party Illegal is excited to make its Kings debut with a night of reality-distorting rhythm and low end pressure from four of our favorite purveyors of underground sounds. Prepare yourself for a night of cutting-edge selections from across the spectrum of hybrid bass, hypnotic techno, and subterranean dub. Shake off your post-Thanksgiving food coma as 10,000 watts of bass pressure ripple through your physical form and propel you into hyperspace. At the controls on this journey into the wormhole are our trusty selectors:”

DJ DEADNAME
Soundcloud | Instagram
“NC-raised and BK-bass’d, DJ DEADNAME brings a hot, kinetic dynamism to New York’s underground that’s unmistakably her own. Drawing from a wide range of influences across space, time, and medium, their sets unfold as collages that embrace and sublate the contradiction of It All. A resident DJ at Brooklyn’s DIY warehouse party Tossd and one half of Bossa Nova Civic Club’s DAYTONA 500 alongside Eva Loveless, she is firmly rooted in New York but remains in active dialogue with the American underground, conversing between scenes across the country. Her roots run back to North Carolina’s Triangle, where she co-founded the Chapel Hill–born collective PERMISSION and came up through WXYC 89.3FM, Night Light, and The Fruit. Now DJ DEADNAME is heading back after several years away, picking the conversation up where it started.”

CHAINLETTER
Bandcamp | Spotify | Instagram
“Chainletter is a producer and DJ that uses music to connect people through collective experience by creating late night wormholes. Whether using CDJs or an unsuspectingly minimal hardware rig, you can expect to be enveloped by unique sound. Focused primarily on ambient and techno using samplers and synths to make time expanding atmospheres and wonky rhythms. Dedicated to the DIY culture, they’ve been playing and organizing parties since 2012 around Durham, NC where they started a collective with friends that aims to create safe dance floors for LGBTQ people while raising money for prisoners and giving platforms to local artists outside of conventional venues, typically under bridges and in the woods.”

SAVANT
Soundcloud | Instagram
“SAVANT is a Durham based DJ and co-curator of Sonic Essence whose sound is shaped by their east side Detroit roots, Detroit techno, and the city’s legacy of pushing dance music forward. Known for electrifying genre bending and bass driven sets, they build hypnotic club soundscapes rooted in futuristic and melodic bass club music. Their approach to DJing pulls from four-on-the-floor, warped vocal textures, and fast-paced electronic energy that keeps the dance floor moving between intensity and sensuality. Rocking Durham dance floors since 2018, they have shared lineups and opened for Juan Atkins (RIP) and BlackMoonChild of Detroit as well as Conducta and I. Jordan from the UK.”

TREEE CITY
Website | Bandcamp | Instagram
“Treee City is a co-founder of Durham’s Party Illegal collective who has perfected his ability to energize the dancefloor, sharing stages with artists like Sylvan Esso, Washed Out, Jubilee, Daedelus, Braille and Odd Mob and appearing at festivals like Moogfest and Hopscotch. His debut full-length album Good Job is “something special…filled with dance-floor heaters” (Indy Week) and his releases have seen support from tastemaking DJs like Anna Lunoe and GRRL. He currently organizes Blends With Friends, a free open decks music meetup at The Pinhook and BOOM Club in Durham, and quarterly party MOODBOARD, as well as providing sound and lighting for many events around the Triangle.”
