Listening to Young Yonder is certainly a southern experience. Telling blue-collar stories of men and women inhabiting spaces of pain, loss, and regret, the Raleigh sextet’s sound is a bit like early Ryan Adams, if he’d listened to a bit more Skynyrd. With songs ranging from tender, acoustic ballads to foot-stomping barn burners, the stories Young Yonder tells on its self-titled debut are at once personal and universal.
