James Brandon Lewis was the Downbeat Jazz Saxophonist of the year in 2023 and is one of the great players on the planet today. The Messthetics is Anthony Pirog (Guitar), Joe Lally (Bass), and Brendan Canty (Drums). Anthony is a virtuoso who lives in all musical worlds – jazz, ambient, noise, punk. Joe and Brendan are both former members of Fugazi and have been playing together since 1987. After releasing 2 albums of blistering instrumental music on Dischord Records, The Messthetics teamed up with James Brandon Lewis to record an entire record of new and original tunes in a fever dream of a session. The record is an amalgam of all their influences, but now with James Brandon Lewis setting fire to all preconceptions.
