Swift Creek’s name pays tribute to the origins of this Americana band, formed six years ago in Central NC. Their highly original songs feature strong traditional and progressive bluegrass influences, a touch of country and a healthy dose of folk. Fine playing supports the band’s signature three-part harmony singing, punctuated with jaw-dropping instrumental solos.
The lineup is Kevin Brown, whose strong tenor leads, rhythm guitar and songwriting frame the band’s sound; Casey Elder, expertly playing the mandolin and dobro as well as adding vocals; bassist Dennis Hoyle setting the beat; Stephen Fraleigh, prize-winning fiddler, also singing and playing banjo; and vocalist Ann Searcy, adding bluesy leads and spot-on harmony singing.
Swift Creek’s debut CD “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” was produced at The Rubber Room in Chapel Hill, NC and released in August 2012.
“Magnolia,” the band’s sophomore album is scheduled for release on April 8, 2016. Brown’s songwriting is prominently featured on the new tracks which have a unique Southern vibe.
