Since the 80’s Rod has had great success as a composer scoring soundtracks for film, television and video games, winning top awards for his music in Vivendi Universal’s video game “The Hobbit” and a BAFTA for his work on EA’s hit game “Dead Space”. A master acoustic guitarist and authentic southern folk troubadour, Rod is now returning to the acoustic stage after three decades with his new release, “The Man I’m Supposed To Be”.
With the help of his old Arrogance bandmate and well known producer Don Dixon (REM, Smithereens, The Gin Blossoms, Marti Jones), Rod and Don have assembled a double album that reflects Rod’s new journey into playing acoustic guitar and performing live. Disc One includes guitar instrumentals that evoke styles of Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges and John Fahey. Disc Two includes original songs that revolve around family, friends and places across his home state of North Carolina and a few favorite covers by BJ Barham (American Aquarium) and Alexi Murdoch. The new album set was recorded at both Buddha View in Charlotte, NC and 1101 Studios and Osceola Studios in Raleigh, NC. All mixes were done at 1101 Studios in Raleigh.
The evening should prove a celebration of Rod’s new album and his love for sharing the spotlight with dear friends and favorite musicians.
