kat learns guitar from her teachers anthony pirog and paul bangser.her noise show is inspired by artists such as derek bailey, morton feldman, henry kaiser, mary halvorson, and fred frith.it explores the the use of atonal, experimental music alongside pedals, improvisation, and free jazz.

XD4The Xander Davies Quartet (XD4) features Alexander (Xander) Davies on the piano, Eli Thayer on the guitar, Alex Carmen on the bass guitar, and Doudy Tang on the drums. Members of the XD4 have performed around the country, participating in competitions, festivals, and workshops at Berklee College of Music, Elon University, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Stanford University, and the JENerations Jazz Festival in Dallas. Members have studied with accomplished musicians including Ran Blake, Harry Appelman, Anthony Pirog, Deric Dickens, Aaron Quinn, and Paul Bangser. The group performs a wide range of music, such as songs from Bill Evans and Jim Hall’s album “Undercurrents” to Julian Lage’s “Modern Lore.”
